OK, I know I'm a techno-neanderthal, and maybe I just did something wrong. But did the way that posts in a threads are organized just change recently? Like, it used to be most recent posts at the end. Now it's most recent posts at the top of a thread. So it goes, for instance:

Terribly Thought-Provoking Comment Starting the Thread

Response C (posted 11 a.m.)

Response B (posted 9 a.m., responding to Response A)

Response A (posted 8 a.m.)

Whereas it used to be, well, in time order. Which makes more sense. Am I right, or did I mess it up myself on my computer somehow?

they (ia) are changing order occasionally

few months in normal time order then few months backwards

why they do it? probably coz they enjoy torturing the newbies

Hah. Me either. (The pix, that is.) Why can't it just be a nice copy-n-paste?

Edit: That was kind of a test. And this time it didn't do the mixed-up time stamp. But if you look at the misheard lyrics thread, the time stamps are all out of order, so it doesn't quite make sense. Of course, that's assuming there's actually a possibility of the forum making good linear sense, LOL :-)

Testing testing

Edit: This is exactly what I mean!!! Now, does it make any SENSE to see "testing testing" when Ringo's comment, which predates it, is below? Sheesh.

AR - I can't even get a picture inserted. Decoding and/or understanding the time stamping is quantum physics to me.

The way I see it, if someone's replying to another person's comment, their post goes below the one they're replying to, and the comments below those comments are in the proper time order. It seems intuitive to me, but then again, I'm a bit insane, so take that with a grain of salt.

As far as I can tell, it has been this way for a long time. I used to think that posts that directly addressed the thread could be bumped up. Now I have no idea why it does this. Ghost in the machine ?

Uhhh...yeah, I clicked on 'reply to this post' on the top post of the 'misheard lyrics' thread, and apparently fucked the order all up...sorry bout that...

Well, clicking "reply to this post" shouldn't exactly screw up the order. But sometimes it seems to. And sometimes it doesn't. Logically, it ought to be "last post last," with internal response threads in their own order. Instead, it seems to be obeying a law of its own. Like a deck of cards that periodically gets reshuffled by Phil n Ned.

I keep hearing people say it is doing this, but it looks the same as ever to me (i.e., earliest post on top, later posts below).

joe, I don't think it matters a wit.
If you edit a new thread ( your first post creating the thread ) it will kick up to the top of the queue , which can be a bit more tricky.
